Since the creation of the only association of underwriting agencies in Spain to date, the underwriting agency landscape has changed substantially. Despite legal and regulatory discrimination, the number of underwriting agencies has not stopped growing, gaining more and more weight in the Spanish market, where it is currently an interesting option for insurers and brokers. For this reason, and on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of its creation and the celebration of its Ordinary General Assembly, the members of the Association have decided to give it a new focus and design. Thus, under the name of “Asociación de Agencias de Suscripción Españolas” (ASASE), the association aims to be the single voice of underwriting agencies in Spain, opening up to other markets in addition to Lloyd’s, which from the beginning has been committed to the Association to protect and promote this figure in the Spanish market. The Assembly approved a new composition of the Board of Directors, consisting of :

✅ Darío Spata (Iberian Insurance)

✅ Álvaro Satrústegui (Exsel Underwriting)

✅ Andrés Martínez (Dual Ibérica)

✅ José Luis Muñoz (Ayax Underwriting)

✅ Félix Ferrer (Crouco Underwriting Agency)

The presidency and the secretary’s office will be occupied by Darío Spata and Álvaro Satrústegui, respectively. Lastly, the members approved the accounts for the 2022 financial year and the management of the outgoing Board of Directors. José Núñez, country manager of Lloyd’s Europe in Spain and former president of the Board of Directors, said “It has been a pleasure and an honor to preside this association for almost 3 years, in which I have been able to see the growth of the underwriting agencies. The agreements adopted today are a very important step forward in the development of the association and for the interests of underwriting agencies. Lloyd’s has been and will continue to be a strong supporter of underwriting agencies and we look forward to continuing and strengthening our relationship with ASASE. We wish them all the best in this new phase that is now beginning and will continue to support the Association at every opportunity”.
